Introducing the future in emergency food response systems, the Food Relief Vault. A cost-effective, safer, faster, and more consistent platform for delivering food following a disaster. Our solutions are self-contained, rapidly deployed, and extremely nutritious strategic food reserve systems, optimized for current humanitarian efforts and supported by private capital for benevolent purposes.
When a disaster occurs, these containers (Food Relief Vaults) can then be immediately deployed to the hardest hit areas and set up for immediate food relief, from strategically located global facilities. The containers are fully self-sufficient and don’t rely on electricity or external fuel or water supplies, making the products ideal in ground zero relief efforts.
Reducing risk, through better technology
Each Food Relief vault can deliver between 88,000 – 120,000 lbs. of highly nutritious food from a single 40’ shipping container. This is possible because each container utilizes freeze-dried and dehydrated food that is delivered to the impact zone and then hydrated and served within minutes after setup.
The technology that allows this to happen is related to the method of food preservation that we use to prepare the meals in advance. We utilize freeze-dried and dehydrated premixed meals packaged in air-tight Mylar pouches ready to be mixed with water and served.
This allows for a very safe food delivery system because removing water from the food inhibits the growth of bacteria and has been practiced worldwide since ancient times to preserve food. Because microorganisms need the water in foods to propagate, drying renders food and ingredients safe from bacteria, yeast, mold and other forms of microbial contamination.
Further, removing moisture from food dramatically reduces the weight of the food so the container is able to carry the maximum amount of nutrition with the least amount of water weight and shipping cost.
Respecting local culture and religious values
Our Food Relief Vaults come in several different variations, each designed for regional specific diets and religious values. For example, all of our vaults are Kosher and Halal certified, and contain no meat products. This helps ensure quick adoption by the local recipients, and more effective relief efforts through better cultural integration.
We also formulate diets based on the optimum foods consumed in the region, this helps prevent additional stresses to the recipients. We also have plans to source raw food stock locally, manufacturer the foods locally, and store the foods locally to promote local economies. Currently, all manufacturing is in the United States, but the technology will be scaled and used throughout the world.

Optimized for high-stress disaster relief environments
All of our bulk food items are stored in state of the art Mylar pouches with internal oxygen absorbers. The pouches are then placed in 6 gallon durable polyethylene buckets for easy storage.
Virtually all components in the FRV were chosen for optimal flexibility during a high stress disaster relief environment. The metal container can be used for shelter and storage during the event, the pallets can be used for fuel, and the plastic 6 gallon buckets can be re-used for gathering water to be purified, wash cloths, wash cooking equipment, store wood or fuel, fill with sand, for flotation devices, to bury objects, mix concrete, use for bathing, holding trash, for portable toilets, etc. More suggestions can be found in the Food Relief Vault deployment manual.

The key to efficient disaster relief is highly trained personnel, quality supplies, and consistent processes. Each of our vaults comes pre-staged for rapid and optimum deployment and designed for minimal interruptions to the base camp operations.
Each vault comes with a Food Relief Vault deployment manual that allows on-site response personnel to quickly familiarize themselves with all of the meals, equipment, and recommended actions needed to utilize the vault efficiently. It also comes with responsible party checklists and inventory control sheets to help maintain proper control of high value contents.
We standardized the food relief vaults so the responders can benefit from consistent and quick deployment protocols. This maximizes the disaster relief efforts and allows for greater attention on the people getting served. We keep digital copies of the deployment manual for easy distribution to key personnel. The food relief vault is designed to enhance today’s best disaster relief efforts.
Fast, easy and consistent meal preparation
Once the Food Relief Vault is delivered, the vault can be deployed and start serving meals within minutes. All of the meals are extremely simple to prepare (just add water) with clear, picture based instructions (English not required) printed on each package. In most cases, preparation time is 10-12 minutes with the longest prep time being 20 minutes (Red Beans and Rice). Each Food Relief Vault comes with all of the cooking equipment (pots, measuring cups, spoons, stoves, fuel, tables, cups, plates, sporks, etc.) needed to prepare and serve.
